Yummy Chocolate Baby Feet

This adorable cake and favors was lovingly made for my daughters diaper shower.
It was a big hit with everyone.  I must say it was my first time ever making baby feet.
I sat them on my counter and looked at them all day thinking oh my goodness these
do look real.  They are made of fondant and I bet no one will eat these little piggies.

This cake was made of three flavors.  The diaper tier is a vanilla fudge swirl cake.
The lower tier was two different flavors.
One chocolate and the other one vanilla filled with a chocolate ganche' and
 covered with a vanilla buttercream.

Then all layers were covered in my homemade fondant.  All the decorations are also
 made out of fondant.
A cute little polka dot blanket draped across the babies bottom with those little feet
 sticking out.
Polka dots and a chocolate bow decorate the bottom tier.

For the favors I decided to make cupcakes and cookie pops.
Baby feet made from chocolate fondant sit on a sugar cookie drizzled with blue chocolate.
The cupcakes are vanilla covered in a blue royal icing with a little diaper made from
 fondant on top.
 Something for everyone to enjoy.

The shower was awesome and everyone really loved the cake and all the goodies.
Those baby feet I must say did steal the show!
Gee I cannot wait to see those feet again but next time on my grandson.
Can't wait to kiss those liitle piggys.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MARGO, DUKE AND BIG SISTER ADDISON

Welcome To The Murphy Nest

Today is Liz Murphy's baby shower and all of her good friends have planned a special shower for her little baby to be; Tenley Elizabeth.  I know she is going to be as beautiful as her mom.
The ladies had planned a nesting theme for the shower and of course it has to be in pink.  They did a wonderful job and the food was great.  My daughter Margo put her creative hat on and made adorable nest favors with little eggs in them.  They looked awesome and tasted great.
Liz said her favorite cake is chocolate so of course thats what she got.  An almond chocolate fudge cake with almond buttercream icing covered in pretty pink fondant.
I placed a nest on the top of the cake and made a pink egg out of fondant.  Dried twigs and roses were added to the sides of the cake.  Brown ribbon was placed around the bottom edges to give a finished look.
Liz absolutley loved her cake!  Seems it tasted pretty good too.
I was so happy to be a part of this joyous occassion and I am so excited for Tenley to get here.  Can't wait to meet her.

Happy Birthday Jedi Michael & Jedi Andrew

Chocolate Cupcakes for Everyone

Yummy Vanilla & Fudge Cupcakes
Legos For Everyone

Vanilla Lego Cupcakes
Death Star and the Lego Universe
Michael is my nephew and will be turning 5 this year. But not alone. His best
friend Andrew is also turning 5. Their favorite thing right now is Star Wars lego's.
What a great birthday party theme.

For the cake I made some lego blocks as realistic as I could so they could sit their figures on them.
Then I thought for the Star Wars part I would make the Death Star Ship.
Well it had to land on something so I figured a meteor might work as a base.
This is my idea of how a meteor should look made of cake.

There was a ton of people at this party so we needed lots of cake and cupcakes too. I was able to find some lego blocks candy at a local icecream shoppe and they looked great on top of the cupcakes.
I made fondant stars for the others.  They looked awesome!

This cake was very heavy and quite large so I had to build a base. Using foam board I covered it with fondant and with the real lego mat I made the impressions.
Each lego was a different flavor.  We had chocolate, vanilla and chocolate fudge swirl.
The Death Star Ship was a vanillla cake and the meteor was chocolate.

Now to deliver this massive cake.

How we got that cake there and down to the basement was a hoot!
I held my breath while the two dads walked it downstairs to the party room.
They did a great job walking that huge cake down those stairs.
Whew!  Way to go guys.

I am sure that next year I will get yet another tough challenge from my nephew.
I am so looking forward to it.
Happy 5th Birthday little guys and may the Lego Force Be With You Both

Ipods For Ryan

Yummy Ipods

My little nephew Ryan wanted an Ipod for his birthday.  The funny thing is he is only turning 5.
So I thought lets get creative and make him an Ipod cake.
I also thought it would be cute for his guest to have their own little Ipod cake too.
Ryans had to be different somehow.  After all he is the guest of honor.
I have seen the cake masters on tv make cakes talk, light up, blow smoke, and even shoot fireworks.
I am thinking that I can make Ryans cake play a song.   And I did. It was awesome.
I even put him some little earphones on it too.  It was a big hit and all the party guest loved theirs too.
What a fun way to start off a party with a singing cake.
