Lets Bake Up Some Birthday Fun

Today two very special young ladies are celebrating their birthdays together.
They are turning 4 & 5.
The best part is they are sisters.
This is my first birthday cake for these sweet little girls and I hope I get the
chance to do many more.

For their birthday party they are baking and decorating cookies.  Their mom
has made their guest chef hats and aprons so they can get the true feeling of being a baker.
How fun is that?
Emmie and Ellie are having special little strawberry cakes made special just for them.
Their guest are having a vanilla cake covered with a vanilla buttercream and pink fondant.
A teal color ribbon decorates the bottom of the cake along with pretty fondant flowers.
All sorts of cute little baking items including yummy chocolate chip cookies on a napkin
with the recipe rest on top.
We also have an apron and matching chef hat along with oven mitts.
A cute little measuring cup and wooden spoon spilling sugar and chocolate chips help to
make it complete.  All of these items are made from fondant.

What a fun party this will be.  Maybe I can get them to help me bake one day.
Happy Birthday Emmie & Ellie
Hope you enjoy your special day

Princess Anna Kate Turns Three

Pretty Pretty Princess

Ready For The Party

Heart For Anna Kate

Yummy Cupcakes For Her Guest
I simply cannot believe that to day I am making Anna Kates third birthday cake.
She has grown up so fast!  This year she wants a Princess party. For her favorite
Princess she has chosen Cinderella.  I must say she is mine too.  What a great story.

We have a vanilla cake covered in blue fondant with a shoe made from gumpaste
to hold her candle.  A carnation also made from gumpaste helps to decorate just a
bit.  Her guest are having pretty cupcakes decorated with blue sparkle shoes and
pretty pink sparkle tiara's.  Vanilla cupcakes with a vanilla buttercream have a
touch of princess flavor added.  Yes there really is a flavor called princess and it
taste yummy.  Strawberry cupcakes with a strawberry buttercream smell very
good and taste divine.  A little bling bling sprinkled on top.  Fit for a Princess I must
say.

Anna Kate loved her cake and is truly a Princess.  She is just beautiful!
Happy Birthday Anna Kate and I look forward to spending many more

with you.

Happy Birthday Scott

Today is my neighbor Scotts 50th birthday.  His wife is throwing him a surprize party at the Providence Club.  His co-workers, neighbors and friends will be helping him celebrate this much dreaded birthday.
With lots of good food, beverages, music and a great slideshow of their life together we made Scott feel much better about turnning 50.
Now of course he had to have a whimsical cake.  Norma did not want the usual over the hill or grim reaper.
So I had to come up with another idea.
Well we all know things do turn to crap at some point so I figured 50 was as good a number as any.
Hmm bathroom scene sounds good to me.  Plunger, toliet paper, tile floor oh yes all we needed here was a toliet and a magazine.  It turned out to be a great cake!
Everything you see here was completely edible except the wooden handle
on the plunger and the small roll of toliet paper.
The cake was vanilla covered in buttercream with fondant tiles.  The plunger cake was chocolate covered in red fondant with a wooden dowel inserted for the handle.
The larger roll of toliet paper was a vanilla cake covered in fondant and quilted to make it look as real as possible.  And the small roll of toliet paper was just paper roll covered in fondant.
Not for eating just decoration.  Norma loved the Life Is Crap theme.
I also made chocolate almond cupcakes with a almond cream cheese frosting adorned with
50's made from melted chocolate.
I must say Scott was surprized and he couldn't get over his cake.  It was the hit of the party.

Front & back sides of cake

Lately I have been very busy making baby shower cakes.  They are so much fun to make.
Both of these cakes are chocolate.  The diaper cake is covered in fondant.
All decorations including the little feet are made out of fondant.
A blue ribbon is used to go around the base of the cake.
The little duckie cake is covered in buttercream.
I purchased the little ducks but all other decorations are made out of fondant.
The barrel is made from Pirouline Wafers.  Piping gel colored blue
makes the water.  A blue dotted ribbon is used to go around the base of the cake.
I hope you enjoy viewing my latest creations.

Just look at these little feet
